Mission Statement
Through Greenroot Yoga LLC, I offer gentle, mindful community yoga classes and individual sessions for people of all ages and abilities. I’m especially interested in offering yoga as a supportive resource for people who have experienced trauma, loss, or marginalization, or mental health challenges such as anxiety or depression; I also enjoy working with older adults, and with children and families.

History Of Practice
I am an E-RYT, a registered yoga teacher who has taught more than 1000 hours of yoga. I’m also a 300 hour certified facilitator of Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, a gentle adjunct treatment for complex trauma. I offer classes and individual sessions in gentle Hatha, Flow, and Yin Yoga; Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY); yoga suave (chair yoga) en espanol... as well as Yoga, Music, and Movement (YoMM) sessions for children and families. In April 2018 I became certified to offer TCTSY and other yoga for mental and emotional health through the Dane County Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program for people on Medicaid.

Personal Statement
From gentle, contemplative adult classes to children’s yoga combined with music and movement, I try to provide opportunities for each person to find in their yoga practice a stronger sense of connection with their own body, heart and mind, and the inner resources to help them connect and live well in the world.

Upcoming Projects
Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga is a gentle, respectful adjunct treatment for complex trauma from neglect, abuse, or violence. Developed with input from trauma survivors, it emphasizes invitational language, choice, body-based mindfulness or interoception, taking effective action, and creating rhythms. TCTSY is used with people of all ages who have complex or relational trauma, and can also provide relief for caregivers, service providers, and others who have secondary trauma from close or ongoing contact with the trauma of others. It is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an evidence-based adjunct therapy for complex trauma. I offer presentations about complex trauma and TCTSY in English or Spanish, and individual or group sessions for all ages on a private basis and through organizations, agencies or groups. You can learn more about TCTSY at www.traumasensitiveyoga.com or by visiting my website, clarenorelle.com.
